WHO’S HOME LOOP VIA GREENWAY/UNBC PARKING LOT

The Caledonia Ramblers will be leading an Easy (B2b) snowshoe/hike up the Who’s Home trail, starting from the Greenway/UNBC parking lot, on Sunday, Jan. 1st, 2017 (New Year’s Day). Participants should bring warm clothing, adequate food, and a hot drink, as well as snowshoes and ice cleats (if they have them). Please meet 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot behind Prince George City Hall. The carpool fee is $2.

PILOT MOUNTAIN, CHRISTMAS DAY TRIP

The Caledonia Ramblers will be leading an Easy (A2a) snowshoe/hike up Pilot Mountain, 17 km northwest of Prince George, on Sunday, Dec. 25th (the club’s traditional Christmas Day snowshoe/hike). Participants are urged to bring some delicious edible Christmas treats to share with their fellow snowshoers/hikers at the summit. They should also bring snowshoes, ice cleats (if they have them), warm clothing, and a hot drink. Please meet 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 11 a.m. in the parking lot behind Prince George City Hall. The carpool fee is $3.

UNBC/BLUE SPRUCE/ALPINE MEADOWS LOOP, DEC. 18TH

The Caledonia Ramblers will be leading an Easy/Moderate (C1c) snowshoe/hike from the UNBC/Greenway parking lot, south along trails east of the Blue Spruce trail to its beginning, and then east and north back to the UNBC Greenway parking lot on Sunday, Dec. 18th. Although Environment Canada’s current long-range forecast calls for a break from the cold weather (a high of -10 C), participants should still bring lots of warm clothing, adequate food and a hot drink. They should also bring both snowshoes and ice cleats with them, in case there is a shortage of snow and possibly icy trails. PLEASE MEET 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE SCHEDULED DEPARTURE TIME OF 9 A.M. IN THE PARKING LOT BEHIND PRINCE GEORGE CITY HALL. The carpool fee is $2.

THIS SNOWSHOE/HIKE MAY BE SHORTENED, ALTERED OR POSSIBLY CANCELLED DUE TO EXTREMELY COLD WEATHER. BUT A HIKE LEADER WILL BE AT THE CITY HALL PARKING LOT SUNDAY AT 9 A.M. TO CONSULT WITH THOSE WHO SHOW UP.

TABOR MOUNTAIN TREK TO BEAVER POND, DEC. 17TH

The Caledonia Ramblers will be leading an Easy/Moderate (B2c) snowshoe/hike up Tabor Mountain’s Sawdust trail to the beaver pond shelter, 28 km east of Prince George, on Saturday, Dec. 17th. Participants should bring lots of warm clothing, plus adequate food and a hot drink, as Environment Canada’s long-range forecast for Dec. 17th calls for a high of -20 C. Participants should also bring both snowshoes and ice cleats with them, in case there is a shortage of snow and possibly icy trails. If conditions are more favourable than forecast and if hikers/snowshoers are willing, this trip’s duration and distance may be lengthened. Please meet 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 9 a.m. in the parking lot behind Prince George City Hall. The carpool fee is $3.

Pidherny Combo loops

The Caledonia Ramblers will be leading a Moderate (C2d) snowshoe/hike called the Pidherny Combo loops at the Pidherny Recreation Site, 12 km northwest of downtown Prince George, on Sunday, Dec. 11th. Participants should bring lots of warm clothing, plus adequate food and a hot drink, as Environment Canada’s current long-range forecast for Dec. 11th calls for a high of -24 C. Participants should also bring both snowshoes and ice cleats with them, in case there is a shortage of snow and possibly icy trails. Please meet 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 9 a.m. in the parking lot behind Prince George City Hall. The carpool fee is $2.
