The Caledonia Ramblers Hiking Club Society will be hosting its annual Spring Meeting to kick off its 2019 hiking season. Reports by the society’s president, vice-president, treasurer and membership director will be posted in the Weekly Ramblings prior to the meeting and most of these directors will be available to make brief presentations or answer questions. Members who wish to renew their annual memberships and sign waivers and guests wishing to become members can do so at a membership table helmed by the membership director. Annual memberships (May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2020) are $30. Hard copies of the club’s 2019 hiking schedule will also be available. As well several Lifetime Membership awards will be presented at the meeting, plus a Special Recognition award. The membership will also be asked to vote on a possible minor name change for the CRHCS (see below). Refreshments will be available after the evening’s main business and the meeting will close with a seven-minute slideshow presented by club member, Maggie Thornhill, based on several recent CRHCS week-long trips to get everyone in the hiking mood.

NAME CHANGE

The Caledonia Ramblers Hiking Club Society’s (CRHCS’) board of directors is proposing an administrative change to the Society’s name. As a result, the two resolutions below will be presented to the membership at the Spring Meeting on April 26th, 2019.

First resolution:

“Be it resolved that the CRHCS change its name to the Caledonia Ramblers Hiking Society.”

*If this resolution fails to receive at least two-thirds support from those voting, a second resolution will be introduced.

Second resolution:

“Be it resolved that the CRHCS change its name to the Caledonia Ramblers Hiking Club.”

In spite of the formality, this change is merely designed to “clean up” the Society’s name. If you feel strongly for one name over the other, please bring your arguments to the meeting!
