Destination: McBride Peak
The Caledonia Ramblers will be travelling to McBride, approximately 210 km southeast of Prince George, for a three- or four-day stay and to complete three different day hikes over the August long weekend. The trip will run from Friday, Aug. 3rd or Saturday, Aug. 4th to Monday, Aug. 6th, depending on participants' wishes. The originally planned day hikes are up to McBride Peak, Lucille Mountain and along the Dunster trail. All three hikes are of varying difficulty and originally planned hikes may change. Several club members have already put their names forward to stay in McBride's Belle Mountain Motel, although other accommodation is available. The cost to stay in the motel is $50 per night, two people per room (kitchens included). Club members interested in participating in these three day hikes need to bring a day backpack, sufficient water or something else to drink, lunches and snacks, extra warm clothing and rain gear, insect repellent, gaiters, sunscreen, hiking poles and bear spray. Those interested in camping will also need to bring a tent, warm sleeping bag, sleeping pad, sufficient food and water, stove, stove fuel and cooking and eating utensils. CLUB MEMBERS SHOULD CONTACT THE TRIP LEADERS IF THEY'D LIKE TO GO ON THIS HIKE NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, AUG. 1ST. Meeting times and places either Friday, Aug. 3rd or Saturday, Aug. 4th are still being determined. The carpool fee is $20, with extra money needed for food (breakfasts, lunches, suppers, snacks) and lodging.
