The snow at the site finally decided to leave on May 22nd, and work began on transporting/carrying materials into the forest. The Prince George Wildfire Fighters kicked things off by delivering about 4,600 pounds of foundation stones to the site, followed by Ivan A. who came out for the day with his quad to move these stones from the parking area to the edge of the forest with help from two very strong and willing teenagers, Joel from Germany and his friend Shasha from Eaglet Lake. Since then Caledonia Ramblers volunteers and other Friends of the Ancient forest have carried several tons of lumber and foundation blocks into the forest for construction which will begin June 18th.

Thanks to Yellowhead Road and Bridge for donating transportation time and gravel that we can use for maintenance of the parking area and for areas along the Ancient Forest Trail that will require this material for steps.

Also, McBride Community Forest Corporation is continuing with support of the Ancient Forest Project by making their 17th free delivery of lumber next week – each delivery being a 200km round trip.
