Project Report – Dec 21, 2010

img_4874During the last 8 months or so, the Caledonia Ramblers Trust Friends of the Ancient Forest has received $24,850 in grants to help purchase materials for the Universal Boardwalk. In addition, over $12,000 of In Kind contributions and cash donations have been received for the project this year – as well as over 500 hours of volunteer labour. We are very grateful for these grants and other contributions that have enabled the Ramblers to make a good start on construction of the boardwalk, and to have sufficient   materials to complete the second phase of the project next year by extending the boardwalk to the 250 meter point. The third phase and remaining 150 meters of boardwalk will be completed in the fall of 2012.

uniwalk-day-17-003With an estimated 4,500 hours of labour facing our volunteers to complete the Universal Boardwalk, we are encouraged by such an overwhelming response to our requests for funding, and other forms of help that will help us provide access to the Ancient Forest for wheelchair users and other visitors with mobility challenges. We thank the following organizations for help in creating this Universal Boardwalk: McBride Community Forest Corporation; Recreation Sites & Trails B.C.; Student Planner Association at UNBC; Prince George Community Foundation; Integris Credit Union; TD Bank – Friends of the Environment Foundation; Prince George Downtown Rotary Club; Public Conservation Assistance Fund, and all those visitors and “Friends of the Ancient Forest” who have made donations.
