There is nothing else that will make one feel so small as when you walk through the ancient forest. The old cedars are a sight to see, and what a special day having Dave King lead us and take us into a secret stash of old growth cedars no matter which way you looked.
There was snow in some sections, but as everywhere else it is not near what it should be. We did not need snowshoes as where there was snow it was very hard packed, and very slippery in some sections so spikes were a great help.
Even though Dave took us for the bush walk we also walked the boardwalk loop and saw Big Tree (approx age 2,000years), Tree Beard with limbs that could be trees themselves, incredible moss, bark, wild ginger, and the Circle of Trees when you looked up toward the sky.
Thank you Dave King for leading us and for showing us an area most do not get to see.
A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who fought for and made the Ancient Forest a park and the incredible work done to make the boardwalk a reality.
