A good size group of 18 Ramblers met up and headed to coffeepot mountain. It was the first time for many of us to this short steep little hike, I think it ended up being only about 3km. You climb a steep section that leads to a loop that goes around the top. A lot of the trail is rocky (due to it being the rim of an old volcano) and very mossy in sections, with some very interesting rock formations.
We had a bit of light rain for some of the hike, and unfortunately due to the clouds the views were a bit hidden but you could see teapot in the distance. It was nice to see the blooms of Arnica, Jacob's Ladder, some succulents, and we even found a geocache. On the one side of the mountain there were trees that seemed to be growing lopsided, maybe due to wind?
Not sure we ever did solve the mystery as to why it's called coffeepot.
Thank you Greg not only for leading the hike today but going up beforehand to clear the trail of fallen trees, it really is appreciated.
