There were twelve in the Wolfgang pack for approximately an eight KM hike on the trails in Hallis Lake, Quesnel.
The weather started out a little cloudy and some light showers, but not long into the hike the sky was blue with the big white fluffy clouds so common in the area. The trails are very wide and open, it was so nice to feel the sun on our faces.
The area seems to be a bit ahead of Prince George as far as spring goes, we saw clematis, violets, arnica, a couple species of frogs, an old hornets nest, heard many types of birds and even saw a hummingbird near the end of the hike. There were a couple of knowledgeable hikers in the group who pointed out morel mushrooms, fiddleheads and wild asparagus. We stopped for lunch in a huge grazing pasture and what came out of the trees, a deer and her fawn, bet she was a little surprised to see us sitting there.
Thank you to Wolfgang for leading this very enjoyable and informative hike.
