A Canada Day long weekend trip into Ozalenka Valley drew 14 Ramblers.
The new cabin is wonderful and proved very handy, particularly on Saturday when we were greeted with torrential rain followed by a full-blown blizzard of snow!
The weather on Sunday was much more friendly. While the more intrepid made their way to Ozalenka Peak, the rest of us toddled around the alpine meadow and the two lakes across the valley from the cabin.
The walk out on Monday was also pleasant.
But be warned! The porcupines are no laughing matter and you can't be too careful. The beasts managed to find their way into the fenced compound and past the chicken wire that had been wrapped around one vehicle parked at the trailhead and chewed a hole in its diesel line.
Fortunately, it was a slow leak but a tow truck was needed nonetheless. BCAA helps but it was a very long day for some of us.
