Due to concern over high water, the hike to Korky Lake was replaced with one along the loops behind University of Northern British Columbia starting at University Heights on Saturday, May 28. A dozen hikers showed up including two newcomers (welcome!).
Conditions along the trail were generally good at the beginning and the end with a significant amount of picking our way around pools of water in between once we were in the Greenway area. However, the wettest area also proved the most interesting in terms of plant growth and fungi. We covered more than 10 kilometres over a bit more than four hours. There were no mosquitoes to report and the forecasted rain held off until we were back at our vehicles.
Thank you Nowell for once again leading the hike. It was a great way to kick off our Saturdays.
