Significant progress has been made on extending the plankway through Caribou Meadows on the trail leading to Viking Ridge. Dave King not only arranged to have slings of 12-foot-long cedar 2x8 planks and 4x4 support beams helicoptered up to an assortment of sites along the trail but was able to round up six volunteers (Tim, Darren, Randy, Greg, Steve and Mark) to help him pack and nail down about 800 feet of boardwalk over the past two Saturdays (September 9 and 16).
The worst of the muddy sections has now been covered but there is more work to do. There remains a chance we will be back up to put down the remaining 25 boards that remain stored at the meadows and Dave is arranging to have more lumber brought up for another work hike or two for next summer.
As it stands, about 1,800 feet has been put in place over the past three years.
Thanks Dave for all your work on this - and thanks to everyone else who has helped out.
