The Caledonia Ramblers set out early for the Yellowhawk Trail, the trailhead tucked along the Bowron Lake Road just past Wells. The trail winds through dense timber, is well-marked and follows a steady grade, before opening out into the alpine. From the top, the views were outstanding: a sweeping panorama over the Bowron Lake chain, with Spectacle Lakes to the north, and the surrounding Cariboo ranges stretching in every direction. The old cabin ruins near the summit added a touch of history to the landscape, and the communication tower marked the turnaround point.
