Destination: Huble Farm
Anyone participating in this Saturday’s (Feb. 9th’s) Caledonia Ramblers’ snowshoe to Huble Homestead, 45 km north of Prince George, will be able to dig into a hot bowl of chili at the end of it. Mike, the Homestead’s caretaker and his family, will be warming up the Homestead post office and providing the chili at the end of the trip, which will begin at Edric Road and wind east and north through forest and pastures, ending up at the local historic site on the banks of the Fraser River. This snowshoe is rated as Easy to Moderate, has a total distance of five to seven km and will take three to four hours to complete. There will be no trail for most of the trip and a vehicle shuttle will be necessary. As Saturday’s weather forecast calls for a high of -142 C, snowshoers should dress warmly and bring a day backpack, extra warm clothing, sufficient water or something hot to drink, snacks and extra food, gaiters and possibly hiking poles. Please meet 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 9 a.m. at the Prince George City Hall parking lot.
The carpool fee is $5
