Destination: Lower Goat River
The Caledonia Ramblers will be leading a hike along a section of the National Hiking Trail located 173 km east of Prince George (West Twin Protected area), from the Goat River rest stop on Highway 16 to the community of Loos in the Fraser River valley on Sunday October 10th. About one-third of the trail is along old deactivated logging roads. As a fall hike, the trip is rated easy-to-moderate (B2d) with a one-way crossover distance of 12 km, and will require a car ferry between the highway rest stop and Loos. Participants should anticipate a 7-8 hour day. Bring snacks (morning and afternoon), lunch and adequate water.
Given the long drive required, participants are asked to arrive at City Hall NO LATER than 10 minutes prior to our departure time of 7:30 am. While additional warm clothes and perhaps a hot drink should be carried in your backpack during the hike, additional warming layers and drinks could be stored in the car that will be dropped off at the Loos trailhead.
The carpool fee is $20
