Hike Details

Shass Mountain

Saturday
October 19, 2019 to October 20, 2019
Departure - 2:00 pm

Destination: Shass Mountain

The Caledonia Ramblers will be leading a moderately-strenuous hike to Shass Mountain south of Stuart Lake on Sunday, October 20. However, there is a catch. The trailhead is on the far side of a lake. Therefore, we will leave Prince George at 2 pm on Saturday afternoon, October 19, and camp on the shore of Grassham Lake.

Sunday morning, we will canoe/kayak the 4 kms across Grassham Lake to the Shass Mountain trailhead (about one hour). The trail is about 7 kms one way with an elevation gain of about 800 meters and should take about six hours to hike round trip. From the summit, we will take in great views of Stuart Lake and mountains to the north. There is rumored to be a herd of mountain goats at Shass, so there is the possibility we will see some wildlife. Please email Travis or call him at 778-675-4563 if you would like to participate.

The carpool fee is $20
