Longworth Lookout

Description

Located near Longworth, on the north side of the Fraser River, about 85 kms east of Prince George. Accessed via the Giscome-Upper Fraser Highway and the Sinclair/Longworth Road. It is a good trail with moderate to steep grades that leads to a ridge above the tree line at elevation 1700m (5600 ft). A short (750 m) walk leads to a Forest Service lookout at 1780 m (5935 ft). It provides excellent views of the Cariboo Mountains to the south, the Rockies to the east and north, and the Fraser River below.

The lookout was completely renovated in the summer of 2024.  No water available near the cabin in summer. Very harsh weather (high winds, frequent whiteout conditions, etc.) and avalanche terrain near the lookout.
