Pope Mountain

Description

Located near Fort St. James, this popular and well used trail leads to a gazebo at the top of Pope Mountain. On a clear day, one can get good views of Stuart Lake to the south and Pinchi and Tezzzeron Lakes to the northwest. There are great view points along the trail where you can stop and have a snack.

Directions

From Prince George, take Highway 16 West for about 106 km. This will take you past Vanderhoof. Turn left onto Stuart Lake Hwy/BC-27 N (watch for the signs to go to Fort Saint James). Travel 53.5 km to Fort St James. Highway BC-27 N turns left in the middle of the town at an intersection, so make sure you watch for the signs.  Stay on BC-27 N till you get to Stones Bay Road (about 2.3 km after the turn). Turn left onto Stones Bays Road and go 4 km till you reach the trailhead. It will be on the right hand side of the road with a parking area.
