Destination: Viking Ridge
This trip is tentatively scheduled as an overnight trip (depending on the weather) and entails all off-trail snowshoe travel with some light bushwhacking. Hikers will make they way to Eye of the Trench Lake, just east of the Hungary Creek Road. This trip is rated easy/moderate. Pre-registration is required and participants should have prior winter camping experience. Participants should consider bringing both ice cleats (ice grippers) and snowshoes for this trip, depending on weather and snow conditions. They should also bring a day backpack, sufficient water or perhaps something hot to drink, adequate food or snacks, extra warm clothing and gaiters. Appropriate overnight winter camping gear will also be required. Hiking poles may also prove useful. Please meet 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 9 a.m. in the Prince George City Hall parking lot.
