Destination: Viking Ridge
The Caledonia Ramblers will be hosting a snowshoe up the Viking Ridge trail, possibly to the ridge, on Sunday, April 21. The hike is rated moderate-strenuous and to reach the lake, it's about 5.5 kilometres from the trailhead with an elevation gain of 869 metres. If participants are willing and the weather and snow conditions are good, then the snowshoers will leave the lake and ascend the ridge on its west side, making it a strenuous snowshoe. It should take about four hours to go up and two to come down. Participants should bring snowshoes, along with a day backpack, sufficient water or perhaps something hot to drink, lunch and snacks, layered clothing, hiking poles and possibly ice cleats. Meet at the city hall parking lot 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 9 a.m.
The carpool fee is $8
